About Equipment Loans

Blackhawk ITS and the Learning Commons Library offers free equipment loans for BTC students of:

  • Laptops (semester and week long loans)
  • T-Mobile WiFi Hotspots (semester loans)
  • Computer Headsets (semester loans)
  • MacBooks for Digital Marketing, Administrative Professional, or IT Web Software Developer program students only, require an appointment to borrow. Read how to borrow a MacBook here.
  • Course equipment including cameras for Digital Photography and Apple iPads to students in the Public Safety program only

Equipment is available at the Library Help Desk in the Student Success Center (room 2200, Central Campus) and can also be delivered to other campus locations when shuttles are running. Only currently enrolled BTC students without library fines or fees and no blocks on their Blackhawk records resulting from non-payment and/or dropped classes etc. can borrow equipment. Students who have previously returned equipment late, damaged or have lost items will not be allowed to borrow equipment again. WiFi Hotspots are only for students without internet access. Borrowing laptops from the library is easy:

  1. Bring your government issued photo ID (drivers license or state ID) to the pick-up location (if it is a campus other than Central, wait to be notified that it has been delivered)
  2. Sign-into laptops using your Blackhawk username and ID.
  3. Read and sign the loan agreement which includes information on late fees and equipment policies
  4. Take-home equipment, make sure to return items on time to avoid late fees and student account holds
  5. Starting Summer 2024, students borrowing Wi-Fi hotspots must fill out an application

If you are a current student (must be enrolled in BTC classes to be eligible for equipment loans), you can borrow a laptop at any point during the semester up to the last week of classes. Equipment lending generally begins a week before classes start, check the BTC calendar or contact the library for the exact date.
